After the failure of the Kursk offensive, the Soviets began their own offensive against the exhausted German troops. The Grossdeutschland Division held off repeated attacks, but was forced to continually give ground. On August 12, however, the Germans began a counterattack designed to cut off the leading Soviet units and stem the Soviet tide. The northern wing of the attack, built around the Grossdeutschland Division, jumped off six days later with a "time phase" assault.
Objectives: Your company will destroy the antitank and infantry strongpoints east along the ridgeline. Your platoon forms the center of the company battleline. Move to the objective along the road east. If any objectives remain untaken after you have gained yours, move to assist in the capture of that objective.
